My Review

The story starts with Kate and her son, Joe, leaving to start a new life under Witness Protection. The back story that follows grounds the reader in the story and sets the scene for a gripping tale.

Kate and Joe have settled into their new life in the Scottish Highlands, and everything is going well for them both. Until, one wet and windy night, Kate picks up a stranger in the village in need of a lift home.

But this is no stranger. Ryan and Kate have history, a romantic past, but he is also a friend of Darren, the man from whom she thought she’d escaped. At first, Ryan comes across to Kate as an old friend who’s interested in rekindling their romance. Is it a coincidence that she moves to his hometown?

But not everyone takes so kindly to Ryan’s return to the Highlands. His father doesn’t seem too pleased to have him around, even though Ryan can now help out at the pub while his dad has a knee operation. Jack, the owner of the café where Kate works is also not Ryan’s biggest fan. But Kate brushes those issues aside; Ryan becomes more and more a part of her and her son’s life

Does Ryan have an ulterior motive? Is he really there to help out his father or is there more to his timely arrival?

Of course there is! And Kate, unfortunately, is a tad too naive to see the real picture.

What follows is a thrilling story of revenge, relationships, and revelations. The father of Kate’s son wants his son back. Kate wants a new life because she’s hiding something about her past. When those two worlds collide, the results are brutal and shocking. And the twist in the story is well worth waiting for.

Overall, this is an engaging thriller. I’ll definitely look out for more from the author!

As always,

      1. How does that meme go? “But did he die?” 😀 😀 😀

Agreed, Ryan was NOT a nice person and he didn’t know the meaning of good intentions, but he just came across to me as an accidental criminal, meaning he winged it! I think either of us could take him in a fist fight! LMAO!

        I’ll show myself out. 😉
