My review:

As soon as I saw the title of this book, I knew I had to read it. Having two dogs at home meant I was already well past the ‘puppy’ stage of the book (mine are veterans now of 14 and 12) but could see how it was so very relevant for anyone thinking of getting a puppy, or just at the point of having a new puppy in the home.

Having a dog in your life is a privilege, not a right – and with it comes responsibility and a financial cost – both factors that come through strongly in the book, and which have to be addressed regarding any decision to bring a dog into your life.

On top of that, however, the huge upside of having a dog is also evident, as a result of the great fun, and unconditional love that a dog brings to your life.

The PawLife Guide: Dog Care at Home by Gina Harding is a short guide, aimed at the Australian market, so some parts were less relevant to me. Nonetheless, it’s a well-planned and comprehensive guide that I will keep handy as a life-long dog-mom.

It spans the whole life-cycle, from getting a puppy to saying goodbye and presents some really useful advice and tips; for me, the tips on CPR alone made the book a worthwhile read.

About the author:

Gina is an enthusiastic dog lover, so much so that she founded her own dog blog business called PawLife, which has been awarded top 10 Australian Dog Blog. This wouldn’t be possible without her best friend Harley, who is a toy poodle mix. They are continually going on new adventures, testing out new squeaky toys.

Gina recently discovered her writing passion and wanted to create the ultimate guidebook that would support, educate and inspire pet parents and yet to be pet parents around the world. Gina and Harley are originally from Australia, where the weather is always beautiful. This is Gina’s first book and looks forward to writing many more to help fellow pet-parents; with her fur-baby Harley by her side.
